Lisseth Argueta

Lisseth Argueta

Lisseth was a wonderful little girl who loved anything with rainbows, butterflies, flowers, and glitter—and, of course, the color pink. She was a Christian, and enjoyed time spent with family and loved ones.

At five years old, Lisseth was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Giloma (DIPG), a rare form of cancer found in the brainstem. Only about 200 children are diagnosed with DIPG each year. She received six weeks of radiation treatment shortly after her diagnosis.

A Message of Hope Cancer Fund helped the Argueta family cover medical expenses, allowing them to spend more quality time together before Lisseth passed away in 2011. She is loved and missed dearly.

In addition to the already burdensome costs of treating cancer, when a child or family member is critically ill, one parent may have to leave his or her job to care for them. This makes it difficult for families to cover expenses they previously did not have difficulty with, such as utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, rising gas costs, and other everyday expenses. MHCF offers families assistance with some of these costs.
